Mr. Maragos sued James Bradley, MD, a Pittsburgh-based physician with UPMC over alleged “improper care” for a 2018 knee injury. He suffered a knee injury Oct. 12, 2017, and was diagnosed with a “torn right knee posterior cruciate ligament.”
The lawsuit alleged the medical team allowed him to advance his activities after the surgery, even though an MRI showed his knee wasn’t improving, leading to a premature end to his NFL career.
Mr. Maragos’ former teammates, including Super Bowl 2018 MVP Nick Foles testified on his behalf, according to CBS Sports.
A spokesperson for Rothman Orthopaedics, who was also named in the lawsuit, declined to comment.
