Dr. Richard Makowiec named chief surgical officer of Synergy Health Partners

Richard Makowiec, MD, will join Synergy Health Partners as chief surgical officer, the company said Feb. 7.

Dr. Makowiec will replace reitiring cofounder Rand Schleusener, MD, according to a news release. In his role, he will guide Syngergy Health Partners’ strategic expansion of healthcare and management models.

Dr. Makowiec recently led an orthopedic and hand surgery practice. He also worked as vice president of medical staff and orthopedics at Franciscan Health Indianapolis. He was also on the medical staff for the Chicago Cubs baseball team.

Dr. Makowiec began his clinical work in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps and completed training at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago. He completed his residency at Northwestern University in Evanston.
