Neurosurgeon tapped for CMS advisory committee

Ketan Bulsara, MD, was named an adviser to the Medicare Evidence Development & Coverage Advisory Committee.

Dr. Bulsara, chief of neurosurgery at Farmington, Conn.-based UConn Health, will be part of a committee that advises CMS on whether items are reasonable and necessary under Medicare law, the University of Connecticut said on its website June 14. MEDCAC has up to 100 members across health, science and law.

Dr. Bulsara is internationally recognized and has dual fellowship training in skull base/cerebrovascular microsurgery and endovascular neurosurgery, according to the website. Along with brain surgery, his practice includes comprehensive spine care.
