Hospital for Special Surgery puts focus on ACL restoration

New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery is shifting its focus from anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction to restoration by using the Bear implant.

The Bear implant acts as a bridge to help both ends of the torn ACL heal, according to a June 1 news release. It is less invasive than ACL reconstruction, and the implant is reabsorbed by the body.

Sabrina Strickland, MD, and Andreas Gomoll, MD, are trained to perform Bear procedures at HSS.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
