Dr. Baker was 75 and died from cardiac arrest, according to the report. He was a retired surgeon from the Hughston Clinic in Columbus, Ga.
Dr. Baker was president of the Hughston Clinic from 1994 to 2000 and was chair of the Hughston Foundation. He was a renowned surgeon and served as president of the Southern Orthopaedic Association, Georgia Orthopaedic Society, Georgia Shoulder and Elbow Society, and American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
In 2011, he was inducted into the Chattahoochee Valley Sports of Hall of Fame. He was also inducted into the hall of fame for Columbus State University and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
