Michael Kaplan, MD, a sports medicine specialist, told ESPN that the injury was considerable and that Mr. Foster may not be able to return to play for three to four weeks. Dr. Kaplan’s independent diagnosis was more severe than the original report to the press.
Mr. Foster plans to return to the field much more quickly, saying that he wouldn’t have posted the photo if the injury were significant, according to the report. When the MRI photo was tweeted, Mr. Foster violated a team policy against disclosing medical information via social media, and disciplinary action will be handled internally.
