Dr. Kumar, of Bradenton, Fla.-based Coastal Orthopedics, used Stryker’s Blueprint Mixed Reality system, which gives physicians access to 3D holographic models during operations.

“Blueprint Mixed Reality’s 3D holographic models allow me to bring the preoperative plan into the operating room, in real time, and to visualize implant positioning that assists in surgical decision making,” Dr. Kumar said in an Oct. 26 news release. “The state-of-the-art technology allows me to tailor shoulder joint replacement procedures to the unique needs and anatomy of my patients.”

Dr. Kumar has been using Blueprint Mixed Reality since early 2021. Coastal Orthopedics’ ASC is one of 15 sites in the U.S. employing the technology.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
