Dr. Heiges suffered a hand injury playing rugby and went on to pursue his medical degree at Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia. He completed his residency at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pa.

He treats all spine conditions and performs minimally invasive surgery and non-surgical procedures.

Dr. Heiges sees spine surgery evolving

“Over the next five to 10 years we’re going to go through a different phase, where it’s more a biologic answer to problems instead of always being surgical,” he said.

He recently co-authored a study that earned a Safety in Spine Surgery Award.
