The 36th surgical system by OrthoPediatrics, the system is designed to simplify insertions on pediatric patients with neuromuscular scoliosis through a set of implants and instruments.
It was developed alongside pediatric orthopedic surgeons to “improve the speed and efficacy of the instrumentation, correction and stabilization of these complicated deformities,” said Scott Luhmann, MD, pediatric orthopedic surgeon and chief of staff at St. Louis-based Shriners Hospital for Children.
“Neuromuscular scoliosis patients can present with a wide array of extreme 3-dimensional deformities, which can require highly individualized and complicated surgical treatment,” Dr. Luhmann said.
The system can work in conjunction with other OrthoPediatric products, including the BandLoc Sublaminar banding system and Firefly 3D printed pedicle screw guides.
