Dr. Markert, a member of the executive committee, will lead alongside Douglas Kondziolka, MD, neurosurgeon at NYU Langone.
The physicians will provide leadership and oversight of the academy’s meetings and field educational and funding opportunities for members.
Dr. Markert is the James Garber Galbraith Endowed Chair of Neurosurgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
He specializes in the treatment of brain and spinal tumors and is involved in various clinical trials that focus on developing new approaches for the treatment of neurosurgical-related conditions.
