Dr. Jazini used Augmedics’ Xvision system for the spinal fusion procedure, according to a March 11 news release. Studies show AR-assisted surgery has improved accuracy and patient outcomes.
For spine procedures, Xvision allows surgeons to visualize a patient’s 3D spinal anatomy during surgery. In the last month, AR-assisted spine surgery was introduced at Kankakee, Ill.-based Riverside Healthcare and Augusta, Ga.-based Doctor’s Hospital.
“This type of innovation has limitless possibilities,” Dr. Jazini said. “We’re at the tip of the iceberg.”
