Dr. Gerard Girasole: Connecticut Orthopaedic Institute shooting for spine surgery CoE

The Connecticut Orthopaedic Institute at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, Conn., opened this month, local news outlet WTHN.com reports.

“This is a huge undertaking,” Gerard Girasole, MD, told WTHN.com. “[It’s] a collaboration between three groups in the area, with the partnership of Hartford Healthcare.”

The institute was designed and is run by physicians, who aim to create a Center of Excellence for spine surgery and total joint replacement.

Dr. Girasole serves as director of orthopedic spine surgery and co-medical director of orthopedics at Hartford Healthcare St. Vincent’s Medical Center.
