Dr. Khalfayan, an orthopedic sports medicine specialist, will continue to serve as head team physician for the Seattle Seahawks, a position he has held since 1996.
He cited “increased requirements” of his private practice and obligations with the Seahawks as reasons for his decision, according to the report.
Dr. Khalfayan worked with the Mariners to find his replacement, who will be announced next week.
