The 72-bed hospital will be built on a 57.8-acre lot that Penrose-St. Francis bought last year for $30 million.

The hospital will have 10 operating rooms and include a medical office building and a surgery center built by an orthopedic group.

Penrose-St. Francis also operates St. Francis Medical Center and Penrose Hospital, both in Colorado Springs. A name for the new hospital hasn’t yet been announced.

Construction is set to begin in early 2021, with opening set for January 2023.
