North Carolina hospital commended for spine surgery

FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, N.C., has been recognized as a Blue Distinction Center+ for Spine Surgery, The Laurinburg Exchange reported Dec. 8.

The designation highlights facilities with expertise in cervical and lumbar fusion, cervical laminectomy, and lumbar laminectomy/discectomy procedures, resulting in fewer complications and readmissions compared to other centers.

On average, Blue Distinction Centers+ are 20 percent more cost-efficient in an episode of care than other hospitals, according to BCBS.

The hospital was also designated as a Blue Distinction Center+ for bariatric surgery, cardiac care and maternity care.
