ASTS-SA is a zero-profile device that allows for three fixation screws. It includes dual single-step locking mechanisms that prevent screw backout.

The implant’s integrated screws “[allow] for an [anterior lumbar interbody fusion] procedure that eliminates the need for supplemental fixation of plating,” according to Dr. Lynch, resulting in cost savings and a more efficient and safe surgery.

Equipped with 4Web Medical’s Truss Implant Technology, the device’s struts transfer strain to adjacent cells that generate a mechanobiologic response in the form of increased osteogenic gene expression, which can assist healing.
