Running as an independent, Dr. Gross was endorsed by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Alaska Democratic Party.
He is set to challenge Republican incumbent Sen. Dan Sullivan for his seat in November.
Dr. Gross’ campaign centers on addressing high healthcare costs in Alaska, balancing Medicare by negotiating directly with the pharmaceutical industry to redirect funds from drug companies to providers and defending abortion rights.
Fellow orthopedic surgeon Manni Sethi, MD, was defeated Aug. 8 in the U.S. Senate Republican primary in Tennessee.
