Dr. Charles Saltzman appointed editor-in-chief of AOFAS journals

The American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society has named Charles Saltzman, MD, editor-in-chief of Foot & Ankle International and Foot & Ankle Orthopaedics.

David Thordarson, MD, will step down after more than 12 years as editor-in-chief of FAI, which ranks as the No. 1 foot and ankle journal.

Dr. Saltzman is chairman of the department of orthopedics at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City and serves as director of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Previously, he has served as president of AOFAS, the International Federation of Foot and Ankle Societies, and the Association of Bone and Joint Surgeons.

Dr. Saltzman will begin transitioning into the role in October and assume full responsibility Jan. 1.
