Dr. Riley Williams III performs shoulder surgery on Nets’ Nicolas Claxton

Riley Williams III, MD, performed an arthroscopic labrum repair surgery on the left shoulder of Brooklyn Nets forward/center Nicolas Claxton June 24, the team reports.

What you should know:

1. Mr. Claxton will miss the remainder of the 2019-20 season and will not join the team when the season restarts in Orlando, Fla.

2. Dr. Williams is an orthopedic surgeon at New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery, where he also performed the procedure.

3. He serves as the Brooklyn Nets and the New York Red Bulls medical director and head team orthopedic surgeon. He has also worked with the New York Mets and the New York Giants.
