Kansas hospital’s spine program earns national recognition

The spine surgery program at Stormont Vail Hospital was recently designated as a Blue Distinction Center by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas, WIBW reports.

The Topeka, Kan.-based hospital was recognized through the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program.

The program honors centers that provide quality outcomes for patients, based on a set of objective measures.

Designated facilities are typically 20 percent more cost-effective per episode of care compared to other centers, according to BCBS.
