Launched on April 28, The COVID Consortium consists of physicians, business leaders, clinical laboratory executives and retired military officers.
The consortium will provide guidance on testing requirements, workplace safety measures and compliance, according to Dr. Shaver, a retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel who practices with the University Health Care System in Atlanta.
Resources will be pooled from high complexity labs to give businesses access to workforce testing.
The labs are providing real-time PCR and antibody testing “to detect current or prior employee infection,” which is necessary for re-entrance into the economy, said Hani El-Shawa, PhD, CEO of AlphaGenomix and a member of the consortium.
