Elective surgeries such as spinal and total joint replacements are being cancelled with routine care visits moved to virtual appointments.

The hospitals include Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, NewYork-Presbyterian in New York City and the University of California San Francisco’s main facility.

Hospital leaders aim to limit COVID-19 exposure to patients and workers and free up capacity for critically ill patients.
