Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. Daniel Wecht of UPMC

Daniel Wecht, MD, is chief of neurosurgery and clinical professor of neurological surgery at UPMC in Pittsburgh.

Dr. Wecht specializes in vascular neurosurgery, brain tumors as well as spinal and peripheral nerve microsurgery.

He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia 1989.

Following medical school, Dr. Wecht completed an orthopedic surgery residency at Houston-based Baylor College of Medicine and a neurovascular fellowship at Yale University in New Haven, Conn.

He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the AANS/Congress of Neurological Surgeons Joint Section on Cerebrovascular Surgery, among other professional organizations.
