Telemedicine initiative enhances stroke care at Texas hospital

Houston Methodist Sugar Land (Texas) Hospital is using telemedicine services to expand its ability to quickly treat patients suffering from stroke, reports The Sealy News.

Three things to know:

1. The hospital’s teleneurology service allows providers to access vascular neurologists during off-peak hours.

2. Stroke experts can communicate with providers and patients at their bedside using videoconferencing technology to quickly determine the route of care.

3. The hospital was recently awarded the Get With The Guidelines-Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award from the American Stroke Association.
