NOCSAE Discusses Concussion Research Grants and Helmet Standards

The National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment is meeting to consider providing grants for research specifically related to concussions and the development of new helmet standards, according to an organization news release.

The research grants will be given based on recommendations from the organization’s Scientific Advisory Committee. The organization has given more than $4 million to concussion-related research since 1995.

The group is considering the development of new standards for youth football helmets, women’s lacrosse helmet/head protection and defensive position head/face protection for baseball and softball.
