Dr. James Andrews to Perform Tommy John Surgery on Yankees Pitcher Joba Chamberlain

James Andrews, MD, founder of the Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham, Ala., will perform ulnar collateral ligament repair on Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain, according to an article published in the New York Times.

Dr. Andrews will perform Mr. Chamberlain’s Tommy John surgery next Thursday in Pensacola, Fla. Post-surgery, Mr. Chamberlain will undergo several months of recovery and may not pitch again until 2013.
