Here are 16 instances of hospitals constructing new orthopedic centers, acquiring orthopedic practices and partnering with surgery centers.

Abingdon (Pa.) Health opened a new Orthopedic & Spine Institute led by Andrew Star, MD.

Allegan (Mich.) Orthopedics, led by Mark Warner, MD, became part of Allegan General Hospital.

A resident of Boca Raton, Fla., made a donation to Boca Raton Regional Hospital to fund renovations of the hospital’s orthopedic unit, which includes joint repair, spine care and sports medicine.

Chilton Hospital
in Pompton Plains, N.J., opened a $2.5 million Total Joint Center with 24 private patient rooms and two rehabilitation facilities.

The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati acquired Cincinnati Bone and Joint Institute in January.

Harrison Medical Center
in Bremerton, Wash., is undertaking an expansion that includes a $19.2 million, 66,000-square-foot orthopedic and spine center.

Jacksonville (Fla.) Orthopaedic Institute
joined Baptist Health.

Johns Creek, Ga.-based Gwinnett Medical Center opened a new orthopedic surgery center.

New Albany, Ohio-based Joint Implant Surgeons partnered with Belmont Community Hospital in Bellaire, Ohio.

Kettering (Ohio) Medical Center
opened an outpatient orthopedic surgery center, Specialty Surgical Care, which provides shoulder arthroscopy, ankle and foot procedures, knee and hip procedures and ACL reconstruction.

Lake Regional Bone and Joint Surgeons
based in Bemidji, Minn., merged with Sanford Health based in Fargo, N.D., and Sioux Falls, S.D.

Orthopaedic & Neurosurgery Specialists
based in Greenwich, Conn., entered into a joint venture ambulatory surgery center with Greenwich Hospital in which ONS surgeons will perform procedures at Greenwich Hospital’s Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Ambulatory Surgery Center one day per week.

Concord, Conn.-based Quality Orthopaedic Care merged with Dartmouth-Hitchcock Concord,

Springfield, Mo.-based Mercy St. John’s Hospital broke ground on a new 43 bed orthopedics hospital.

UW Health in Madison, Wis., is planning a new 50-80 bed orthopedic facility, which could begin construction next year.

WCA Hospital in Jamestown, N.Y., opened the WCA Center for Orthopedics, Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation Therapy.
