Southern Bone and Joint Specialists Partner With Forrest General Hospital on New Mississippi Orthopedic Hospital

Southern Bone and Joint Specialists in Hattiesburg, Miss., is partnering with Forrest General Hospital to build a new orthopedic hospital in Hattiesburg, according to a practice news release.

The 74,000-square-foot facility will include 30 orthopedic beds and will be located on the campus of Southern Bone and Joint Specialists. The project is expected to cost more than $30 million and includes orthopedic operating rooms, pre-operative and recovery rooms, physical and occupational therapy and laboratory and diagnostic imaging services.

Practice President Elliott Nipper, MD, expects the new facility to become a regional referral center in orthopedics. The hospital is scheduled to open for patients in Oct. 2012.
