According to ISASS, MIS SI joint fusion has been mis-valued in the past and ISASS presented information about the mis-valuation at the meeting. The organization advocates for proper payment for less invasive procedures.

“CMS officials indicated a significant interest in collaborating with ISASS to improve care for Medicare and invited Dr. Lorio and others to continue to regularly interact and continue their dialogue with them in future rule-making comment letters and face-to-face meetings,” according to a statement from ISASS.

The meeting took place Feb. 6 and included CMS Director Carol Blackford, among others.
