What you should know:
1. The surgery center will be 8,000 square feet and on the first floor of an old Sports Authority in in Steamboat Springs.
2. Steamboat Orthopaedic will renovate the second floor of the Sports Authority and establish a clinic in the space.
3. Steamboat and UCHealth discussed opening a joint venture practice for several years. UCHealth wanted to establish a hospital outpatient department, while Steamboat Orthopaedic wanted an ASC.
4. UCHealth recently went through a leadership change, which, “switched gears” on the conversation. Yampa Valley Medical Center Interim President Soniya Fidler said, “We were able to meet on certain terms with the same goal in mind.”
5. Steamboat Orthopaedic & Spine Institute Partner Alexander Meininger, MD, said, “We couldn’t be more excited to announce our new partnership with YVMC and UCHealth. This is the opportunity for efficient, cost-effective outpatient surgery that our community has been awaiting.”
