There is currently a lack of cohesion in how the results of brachial plexus surgery are reported, and HSS researchers determined the need for a standardized outcomes measurement system for comparative research.
Investigators have drafted a tool they hope will standardize outcomes reporting in the international community. The tool includes measurements of motion, strength and function for seven critical domains of the upper extremity, shoulder elevation, shoulder external rotation, elbow flexion, elbow extension, wrist extension, finger flexion and intrinsics.
