Mayo Clinic orthopedic surgeon to perform in World Doctors Orchestra: 4 notes

Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic orthopedic surgeon Allen Bishop, MD, will play the oboe in the World Doctors Orchestra’s concert in Israel this week, according to KIMT News 3, a CBS affiliate.

Four notes:

1. Dr. Bishop has been a member of the World Doctor’s Orchestra for 10 years.

2. Founded in 2008, the World Doctor’s Orchestra comprises nearly 100 physicians across the world. The organization hosts a benefit concert for medical aid projects up to three times a year.

3. Dr. Bishop specializes in reconstructive microsurgery, brachial plexus injury and vascularized bone grafting.

4. Dr. Bishop is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery.
