Four things to know:
1. Sean Hooker, MD, will lead the practice. He first joined the health system in July 2018.
2. A board-certified orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist, Dr. Hooker has expertise in shoulder, hip and knee replacements as well as rotator cuff repair.
3. Dr. Hooker has served as team orthopedic surgeon for Newport News, Va.-based Christopher Newport University athletics.
4. After earning his medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C., Dr. Hooker completed his residency at Honolulu-based Tripler Army Medical Center. He underwent shoulder and elbow surgery fellowship training at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, Australia.
