Dr. Schwender served as president of the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery. He received his medical degree from State University of New York Upstate Medical University in Syracuse and underwent spine fellowship training at Twin Cities Spine Center.
Dr. Schwender is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Cervical Spine Research Society and Scoliosis Research Society fellow, among other professional organizations. His research has been published in a variety of peer-reviewed scientific journals and book chapters. In his spare time, Dr. Schwender enjoys hunting, camping and running ultramarathons.
