Here are four things to know:
1. The program includes hip surgery procedures, total hip replacement surgery and the hip preservation treatment periacetabular osteotomy.
2. The PAO procedure is intended to prevent or eliminate the need for a total hip replacement. It was developed by Swiss orthopedic surgeon Dr. Reinhold Ganz.
3. PAO was initially developed to treat hip dysplasia caused by an acetabulum deformity.
4. La Peer Surgery Center in Beverly Hills employs 50 surgeons.
