2. Trigger point injections deliver long-term pain relief and improve range of motion. They can reduce pain resulting from conditions such as fibromyalgia, migraine, tension and myofascial pain syndrome, and help reduce or eliminate dependence on pain medication.
3. The treatment is particularly suited for patients whose pain hasn’t responded to more conservative treatments and patients whose trigger points can be found by palpitation.
4. Trigger point injections are not recommended for patients with a hemorrhagic syndrome, allergies to local anesthetics, anticoagulant use or psychiatric disturbance.
5. Patients with several trigger points who also have another condition such as hyperthyroidism, estrogen deficiency or Cushing disease are not ideal candidates for the treatment.
