Dr. Chris Yeung performs spine surgery on Pirates player: 5 things to know

Chris Yeung, MD, performed spine surgery on Pirates outfielder Daniel Nava Feb. 27, according to Trib Live.

Here are five things to know.

 

1. After consulting with the Pirate’s medical staff, Mr. Nava went to Dr. Yeung for a second opinion.

 

2. Dr. Yeung is an orthopedic surgeon at Desert Institute for Spine Care in Phoenix.

 

3. He performed a microdiscectomy on the baseball player.

 

4. Dr. Yeung completed two spine fellowships at Los Angeles-based USC Center for Orthopaedic Spine Surgery and Los Angeles Spine Surgery Institute.

 

5. Mr. Nava will likely be out of the game for 10 to 12 weeks.
