Ortho RTi reports feasibility study results for Ortho-R implants: 5 insights

Regenerative Medicine and Therapeutics published a new article, “Freeze-Dried [Ortho-R] Injectable Surgical Implants for Meniscus Repair: Pilot Feasibility Studies in Ovine Models.”

Here are five insights:

 

1. The pilot feasibility studies examined the use of Ortho RTi’s “Ortho-R” hybrid implants for meniscus repair in ovine models.

 

2. In the first study, researchers found one of four defects treated with Ortho-R experienced complete repair and repair tissue integration after three months.

 

3. The second study saw one of two defects treated with Ortho-R undergo complete repair and repair tissue integration.

 

4. Sole platelet rich plasma or wrapping did not promote any healing.

 

5. Researchers concluded Ortho-R injectable implants showed potential to enhance meniscus repair outcomes in pre-clinical models.
