1. Currently, Dr. Tabar serves as chair for neurosurgical oncology and vice chair for neurosurgical research and education. She succeeds Philip Gutin, MD, who will retire at the end of 2017.
2. Dr. Tabar is the founding director of the Multidisciplinary Pituitary and Skull Base Tumor Center at MSK. She is the co-leader of efforts to develop human embryonic stem cell-derived dopamine neurons for Parkinson’s disease.
3. With more than 15 years of healthcare experience, Dr. Tabar specializes in intraoperative brain mapping techniques, allowing for brain tumors to be removed more precisely.
4. After earning her medical degree from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon, Dr. Tabar completed her residency at Boston-based University of Massachusetts. Dr. Tabar also completed a research fellowship at MSK.
5. Dr. Tabar is a member of the American Society of Clinical Investigation, Society of Neurological Surgeons and National Academy of Medicine.
