Here are five things to know:
1. The two-story expansion bears a $21.7 million price tag.
2. The Vermont Orthopedic Clinic is currently housed in a space for four providers, but the medical center boasts 12 orthopedic providers.
3. The expanded physiatry department will boost the medical center’s musculoskeletal services, inclusive of brain, spinal cord, nerve, bone, joint and muscle treatment.
4. The Rutland City Board of Aldermen must sign a letter of support for project approval. Then, Rutland Regional Medical Center can apply for U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development low-interest financing.
5. If approved, the medical center will complete the expansion’s construction in approximately two and a half years.
