Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. Mark Giovanini of Neuromicrospine

Mark Giovanini, MD, is a spine surgeon at Neuromicrospine in Destin, Fla. Dr. Giovanini specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery.

Recently, Dr. Giovanini performed one of the first robotically assisted minimally invasive sacroiliac joint fusions. The surgery was done using the Mazor Renaissance system as an outpatient procedure. Dr. Giovanini is one of two surgeons trained to use the Mazor Renaissance system.

 

Dr. Giovanini is transforming standard open procedures preformed in inpatient hospitals to minimally invasive spine surgery preformed at outpatient centers.

 

After earning his medical degree from Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Dr. Giovanini completed his residency in neurological surgery at the University of Florida at Shands Hospital in Gainesville.
