Dr. Charles Bush-Joseph operates on Yankees’ prospect Dustin Fowler — 4 key notes

Chicago-based Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush surgeon Charles Bush-Joseph, MD, performed a procedure to repair an open rupture of the patellar tendon in New York Yankees’ outfielder Dustin Fowler’s right knee, MLB.com reports.

1. Mr. Fowler made his Major League debut June 29.

 

In the first inning, Mr. Fowler ran into a low fence at Guaranteed Rate Field, causing the rupture. He was carted off the field.

 

2. Mr. Fowler was taken to Rush, and Dr. Bush-Joseph operated immediately on him. He’s expected to miss the rest of the season.

 

3. Dr. Bush-Joseph is a Chicago White Sox team physician.

 

4. He serves on the editorial board of several orthopedic journals including the American Journal of Sports Medicine.
