Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. Daniel Kim of Memorial Hermann

Daniel Kim, MD, is a neurosurgeon at Houston-based Memorial Hermann.

He currently serves as director of reconstructive spinal and peripheral nerve surgery at Houston-based Mischer Neuroscience Institute and is professor of neurosurgery at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston Medical School.

 

Dr. Kim specializes in endoscopic and robotic minimally invasive spine surgery, peripheral nerve surgery and complex spinal reconstruction. He has authored hundreds of papers and published 17 surgical textbooks over the course of his career and has won numerous awards and honors for his research and work.

 

Widely-recognized for his research in peripheral nerve repair through nerve transfer and nerve graft, Dr. Kim has also been recognized for his work in neurorehabilitation using robotics and cortical stimulation.

 

Dr. Kim graduated from New Orleans-based Tulane University School of Medicine before completing his neurosurgery residency at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. He then underwent fellowship training in spine surgery at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
