Spencer Ambassadors welcome Dr. Daniel McGuire — 4 things to know

Orthopedic spine surgeon Daniel McGuire, MD, was welcomed in the lobby of Spencer (Iowa) Hospital earlier this week, according to The Daily Reporter.

Here are four things to know:

 

1. Dr. McGuire has opened offices in Spencer, Spirit Lake and Storm Lake in association with Spencer-based Northwest Iowa Bone, Joint and Sports Surgeons.

 

2. Rick Wilkerson, MD, unsuccessfully attempted to recruit Dr. McGuire several years ago. When the area needed an additional spine surgeon one year ago, Dr. McGuire agreed to make the move.

 

3. Dr. McGuire was attracted to Spencer Hospital’s ability to treat 80 percent of spine problems locally.

 

4. Dr. McGuire completed his orthopedic surgery residency at St. Louis University and went on to complete a spine fellowship at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield.
