Dr. Maloney steps into his new role after serving for two years as the academy’s vice president. He has long been involved with AAOS, including serving on the council on education committee.
Specializing in joint replacement, Dr. Maloney serves as Stanford (Calif.) University School of Medicine’s Elsbach-Richards Professor in Surgery. He is also the chairman of the school’s orthopedic surgery department, where he serves as a professor.
His commitment to advancing orthopedic care has seen Dr. Maloney serve as chair of the American Joint Replacement Registry’s board of directors as well as on the boards for the Knee Society, Western Orthopaedic Association and American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. He also served on the board and was a former president of the Hip Society.
He completed his hip reconstruction surgery fellowship at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
