The judge faxed the order to physicians at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where the teen is currently located. The order states that the physicians should proceed with medical treatment as they see fit. He and his parents would prefer he receive treatment at home without surgery or drugs. His mother is a “trained naturopath” and would like to treat him using alternative medicine.
Mr. Mitchell suffered a spinal injury during wrestling practice last month when he collided heads with another wrestler. He was unable to move immediately after the injury, and the physicians at Jefferson said his spine should be stabilized with pins and plates.
