Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. Stephen Hochschuler of Texas Back Institute

Stephen H. Hochschuler, MD, is an orthopedic spine surgeon and co-founder of Plano-based Texas Back Institute.

He specializes in treating lumbar spinal injuries and issues and is a past president of the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery, an organization he helped establish. Dr. Hochschuler founded the spine division at the Veterans Administration and was a decorated U.S. Air Force Major before founding TBI.

 

Dr. Hochschuler graduated from Boston-based Harvard Medical School and completed a general surgery residency there. He then went on to complete an orthopedic surgery residency at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.
