Spine Surgeon Dr. Stephen T. Michaels Becomes Vice President of Medical Affairs at Maryland’s St. Mary’s Hospital

Stephen T. Michaels, MD, an orthopedic spine surgeon, has recently been named the vice president of medical affairs at St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown, Md., according to a hospital news release.

Dr. Michaels previously served as a managing partner in a private practice in Silver Spring, Md. He currently serves as president of STM Medical Consulting, a company that provides independent peer review services to hospitals and staffs nationwide. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Dr. Michaels earned his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed his residency with the Stony Brook (N.Y) University Medical Center. His additional training includes a fellowship at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago.
