Orthopedic and Spine Industry Leader to Know: Dr. Jeffrey S. Meisles of Orthopaedic Specialists in Illinois

Jeffrey S. Meisles, MD, practices orthopedic surgery at Orthopaedic Specialists in Elmhurst, Ill., and is the chairman of surgery at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital in Melrose Park, Ill. He has a professional interest in joint replacement surgery, rheumatoid arthritis and sports medicine. He recently treated a young patient who broke his ankle while sledding this winter.

“[The patient] suffered a fracture in the tibia, which is the most common long-bone fracture, and will likely heal without any problems,” said Dr. Meisles in a local Trib report. “The tibia is a weight-bearing bone and it is important that it will heal correctly.”

During his career, Dr. Meisles has served as an instructor in orthopedics at Rush Medical College and is currently a member of the adjunct faculty at Midwest University. He is also the preceptor of the primary care sports medicine fellowship at the University of Chicago-MacNeal Hospital. Dr. Meisles is a fellow with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons.

In addition to his practice, Dr. Meisles has given several presentations on topics such as minimally invasive hip and knee surgery and new developments in total knee replacement. He has served as a member of the Epoch 2 total hip development team for Zimmer. Dr. Meisles has been named one of Chicago Magazine‘s top 20 orthopedic surgeons and listed in Castle Connolly’s top physicians in the Chicago area.

Dr. Meisles earned his medical degree at Rush Medical College in Chicago, where he also completed his residency.
