Dr. Wolfe is the chief of hand surgery and Dr. Hillstrom is a biomedical engineer and director of the Leon Root, MD, Motion Analysis Laboratory. The two received the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation Grant for the study.
Outcomes of the study have been published in an AAOS Now report. The study was built around the idea that most wrist motions are coupled motions. Rehabilitation efforts, other treatment options and surgical prosthetics may begin taking these findings into consideration to build a more effective treatment plan for patients.
